Flower Power.

You might be thinking....Mikayla, you're a coach. Why the heck are we talking about flowers??

I'm a big 'look into the deeper meaning of things' kinda person.

When I got into my car accident, I went into one of the darkest times of my life. I didn't want to go to school, I felt helpless, all the things I loved to do I couldn't do. I think looking back now, I feel like I could've gone about things differently...but I think that tends to happen to most of us when we look in the rear view mirror.

One of the many things I learned during that time is finding ways to keep the light in your life during moments or seasons of darkness.

Every season of our lives isn't going to be sunshine and butterflies...we will have times of more stress, more frustration, more darkness, more times of not feeling like ourselves.

But it's what we do in those times that matters most.

Creating healthy habits so that when we get into those darker times, we have things to fall back on.

Creating healthy relationships with others.

Fueling and strengthening your body.

Creating a mental health routine.

During the time of my accident, I became fascinated with the Lotus Flower. It's such a beautifully simple, yet also intricate flower. Along with that, it is able to blossom in the darkness.

They are able to grow and even THRIVE in the darkest and grimiest of places. It represents renewal, a fresh start, growth and strength.

It takes a strong person to rise up and out of the dark shit. We can all do it. It takes time, patience, and belief in yourself and belief in the process of life.

Now, whenever I feel like I'm drowning, I have things and people to turn to. Rituals that keep me sane and grounded-making me less likely to fully spiral when things aren't going right.

I also think about how I can be like a lotus flower. I have the ability to use this time to grow, become a better, stronger, more resilient version of myself.

Growth isn't always easy. But it's worth it.

Find your lotus flower. Find your reasons to keep going through the harder moments of life.

I'm rooting for you.

It's time to root for yourself <3

XO, mik
